Waitlist
Collect sign-ups from people who want tickets once your event is sold out, and let them know automatically when tickets become available again.
The waitlist turns a sold-out event page into a list of people who still want to come: visitors leave their email, and cowtic emails them as soon as tickets come back.
Turn it on
- Open the event from Events and go to the Waitlist tab.
- Switch on Accept sign-ups.
The sign-up form appears on the public event page as soon as every ticket type is sold out. While tickets can still be bought, the form stays hidden.
What visitors see
A short form under the ticket list asks for a name (optional), an email address and how many tickets the person wants. Each email address is listed once per event. Signing up again after being emailed puts the person back in line.
When tickets come back
Tickets become available again when you raise a ticket type's quantity, an order is cancelled or refunded, or a reservation expires. Within a minute, cowtic emails the people who have waited longest:
- One batch of a few more people than there are tickets, at least five.
- If tickets are still left 12 hours later, the next batch follows.
- Each person is emailed once. The email links to the event page. It is first come, first served.
To tell everyone at once, use Email everyone waiting. It only works while tickets can be bought.
Follow up
The tab shows who is waiting, who has been emailed and who bought tickets after signing up. You can remove entries and export the list as CSV.
Only a published, upcoming event accepts sign-ups and sends notifications. For a private event, the email link includes the event's access secret.
